CMC to launch four-day dengue prevention program from today

A four-day dengue prevention program will be implemented from 4th to 7th of June within the limits of Colombo Municipal Council (CMC).

Under this program, all administrative district of the CMC will be inspected by a team consisting of one Public Health Inspector (PHI), one police officer and one officer of the Solid Waste Management Division, the local authority said in an announcement.

Concurrent to this program, all drainage channels, sewage systems and manholes within the Council’s limits will be also be inspected and cleaned.

Legal action will be sought with regard to dengue mosquito breeding sites that are identified during the inspection, the CMC added.

The Municipal Commissioner has requested the public assistance to keep the city of Colombo clean and free of mosquito breeding spots.
