The Cabinet of Ministers has decided not to levy the overdue charges for lapses in payments of income taxes during the Covid-19 lockdown period.

The Cabinet Spokesperson Minister Bandula Gunawardena stated this today (04), addressing the media briefing to announce Cabinet decisions.

The Inland Revenue Department usually charges penalties for late or non-payment of income taxes, however, taking into account the lockdown period, it has been decided that the penalties will not be levied for the lapses in payments of income taxes until June 20.
