Covid-19 positive arrival brings total cases to 2,154

Another individual has tested positive for Covid-19, raising the total cases in Sri Lanka to 2,154.

Department of Government Information said this patient had arrived from Bangladesh.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that 56 inmates and staff members of the Kandakadu Treatment and Rehabilitation Centre and a female counsellor, from Marawila who works with drug addicts at the rehabilitation centre, had tested positive for the virus.

In addition, a returnee from Qatar who was under quarantine and a member of the Sri Lanka Navy from the Poonewa quarantine centre were also confirmed Covid-19 positive.

Accordingly, a total of 60 coronavirus patients have been detected so far within the day.

A total of 164 patients infected with the virus are currently under medical care while the total figure of recoveries in Sri Lanka has risen to 1,979.

The country has confirmed 11 deaths due to the virus infection.
