Couple killed in elephant attack in Buttala

An elderly couple was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in the Dambeyaya area in Okkampitiya, Buttala.

A 57-year-old woman and her 70-year-old husband were engaged in rubber tapping this morning (17) when they were attacked by an elephant. They had died on the spot.

The postmortem examination is to be carried out later today, Ada Deran reporter said.
