Laboratory worker at Govt Analyst’s Dept. arrested with heroin

A laboratory worker attached to the Government Analyst’s Department has been arrested in Athurugiriya while in possession of over 18 grams of heroin, police said.

The suspect was arrested at around 5.30 p.m. last evening (16) in the Moratuwahena area after searching a suspicious motorcycle based on information received by Athurugiriya Police.

Police said that 18 grams and 730 mg of heroin was found in the possession of the suspect, a 28-year-old resident of Matara, who is employed as a laboratory worker at the Government Analyst’s Department.

He is to be produced before the Kaduwela Magistrate’s Court later today (17).
