Minor tremors in Pallekele not caused by main tectonic plate boundaries - GSMB

The minor tremors felt in Pallekele this morning (02) and last Saturday (29) were not caused by any main tectonic plate boundaries, says the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB).

An unusual minor tremor was reported from the Kandy District early this morning (02).

According to the Geological Survey and Mines Bureau (GSMB), the incident took place at around 07.06 am in the Pallekele area.

In the meantime, a minor tremor was recently reported from Anuragama area in Kandy at 8.29 pm on August 29.

The GSMB has deployed two teams, each consisting of six officials, to probe the situation.
