Five arrested with heroin hidden inside coconuts

Five individuals including two women have been arrested while transporting over 500 grams of heroin concealed in coconuts, the police said.

The suspects were taken into custody by the officers of Moragahahena Police at the Pinnaduwa Exit of the Southern Expressway.

Initially two suspects had been arrested last night (02) in the Moragahahena area with 04 grams and 300 milligrams, according to information received by Moragahahena Police.

Based on further information uncovered through the interrogation of those suspects, a search operation was carried out near the Pinnaduwa exit of the Southern Expressway by officer of the Moragahahena Police.

During this operation, three suspects including two women were arrested with 500g and 650mg of heroin, which had been cleverly concealed within several coconuts. 

Moragahahena Police is conducting further investigations while the arrested suspects are to be produced before court.
