Man caught throwing phone batteries and heroin into Welikada Prison

An individual has been arrested for attempting to throw contraband into the Welikada Magazine Prison over its walls.

The arrest has been made by the Colombo Crime Division (CCD).

Reportedly, 10 charged mobile phone batteries and a packet of heroin had been attempted to be smuggled into the prison in this manner.

Cash worth Rs 36,000 has also been found on the suspect, stated the Police.

The arrestee is identified as a 35-year-old man residing in Seewali Lane, Borella.

He is currently being interrogated under detention.
