Over 4,000 arrested in island-wide operation

The police media says 4,186 persons were arrested during a special operation conducted island-wide.

Reports revealed that 1,205 of them were arrested over drug offences.

Further, 1,143 individuals were taken into custody on pending warrants, the police said.

In the meantime, 903 have been apprehended over drunk driving while 811 persons were detained on suspicion.

The raid has been carried out between 11.00pm yesterday (11) and 3.00am today (12) by deploying 16,347 police officers and 45 police dogs.
