Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central and North-western provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, says the Department of Meteorology.

 

Fairly heavy rainfalls above 75mm are likely at some places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Nuwara-Eliya, Kandy, Galle and Matara districts.

 

A few showers may occur in Anuradhapura and Hambantota districts.

 

Strong gusty winds about (50-60) kmph can be expected across the island, particularly in the Northern, North-central and North-western provinces, Trincomalee and Hambantota districts and in the western slopes of the central hills.

 


Sea areas:

 

The Meteorology Department has warned naval and fishing communities to be vigilant as venturing into the sea areas extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar until tomorrow morning (16).

 

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas from Puttalam to Matara via Colombo and Galle.

 

Wind speed can increase up to (60-70) kmph in the deep and shallow sea areas extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar. These sea areas can be rough or very rough at times.

 

Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Trincomalee via Mullaitivu and from Puttalam to Hambantota via Colombo and Galle. These sea areas too can be rough at times.

 

Gusty winds up to (50-55) kmph can be expected in the other sea areas around the island and will be fairly rough at times.

 

The sea areas extending from Hambantota to Pottuvil and the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar can be rough or very rough at times.

 

The sea areas extending from Kankesanturai to Trincomalee via Mullaitivu, can be fairly rough or rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be fairly rough at times.
