Showers, gusty winds expected in parts of the island

Showers will occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts, says the Department of Meteorology.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in Northern province particularly in the morning.
Gusty winds about 40 kmph can be expected in Batticaloa, Trincomalee, Matara and Hambantota districts and in the western slopes of the central hills.
Sea areas:
Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the sea areas extending from Mannar to Trincomalee via Kankesanturai.
Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and the wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph in the sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
The sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
