Rainfall, strong winds expected in some areas

Showers will occur at several places in Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Kandy, Nuwara-Eliya, Galle and Matara districts, says the Department of Meteorology.
Strong gusty winds about 50kmph can be expected in North-central and North-western provinces and in Trincomalee, Batticaloa, Matara and Hambantota districts and in the western slopes of the central hills.
Sea areas:
Few showers will occur in the sea areas extending from Colombo to Matara via Galle.
Winds will be Westerly to South-westerly in the sea areas around the island and the wind speed will be (30-40) kmph.
Wind speed can increase up to (50-60) kmph in the sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota.
Wind speed can increase up to 50 kmph in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Kankesanturai via Mannar.
The sea areas extending from Matara to Pottuvil via Hambantota can be rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be moderate.
