Measures have been taken to isolate the Keselwatta Public Market area in Panadura, stated the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO).

The decision has been in effect from this afternoon (27).

Previously, a fishmonger at the market has been identified to have contracted the COVID-19 virus.

Subsequent PCT tests have detected 12 more cases from Panadura North and Panadura South areas.

Meanwhile, 09 Grama Niladhari Divisions in the Palabeddala area in Ratnapura have also been isolated.

The isolated areas are Gilimale, North Gilimale, South Gilimale, Ketawala, Sri Palabaddala, Malwala, Siripagama, Ambuldeniya, and Matalana Grama Niladhari Divisions.

The decision has come after a close contact of the Peliyagoda Fish Market cluster and 06 members of his family have tested positive for the virus.

Reportedly, among them is a 9-month-old baby.

In addition, the Sammanthranapura area in Mattakkuliya was declared an isolated area yesterday (26), with the detection of several COVID-19 cases from the area.
