The health authorities have made a request from the public to involve less than 50 people when conducting religious activities.

The public is urged to pay more attention to this matter on the upcoming Full Moon Poya Day.

Explaining further, the Director of the Health Promotion Bureau, Dr. Palitha Karunaprema, said that religious activities cannot be carried out as usual in areas where the curfew is imposed.

“We request that religious activities, in areas outside Western Province where curfew is not imposed, carried out in small scale with less than 50 persons per event, as per with the health safety recommendations.”

He added that the highest risk of the virus is for elderly people over 60 years of age and for people with diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, or kidney disease.

“The important thing here is that they take their medication properly. It is very important for such adults to stay at home.“
