Covid-19 patients under medical care exceed 6,000 with 319 new cases

Covid-19 cases confirmed in Sri Lanka soared yet again as 319 more individuals were tested positive for the virus today (30).

According to reports, all the fresh cases are connected to the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda cluster: 83 of them have been identified from quarantine facilities and the remaining 236 are close contacts of earlier patients.

Thereby, Sri Lanka registered 633 new infections so far within the day while total positive cases from the cluster reached 6,946.

With the new development, the total number of positive cases confirmed in the country increased to 10,424.

The Epidemiology Unit says 6,123 active cases are currently under medical care.

Covid-19 recoveries reported in Sri Lanka meanwhile reached 4,282 earlier in the day as 140 patients were discharged from hospitals upon returning to health.
