Dangerous to roam around before PCR results are in - GMOA

It is perilous for persons who are awaiting their PCR test results to be moving within the society, says the Government Medical Officers’ Association (GMOA).

Dr. Haritha Aluthge, the editor of GMOA, stated that such incidents are being reported from all over the island.

Speaking further Dr. Haritha Aluthge said:

“There is a delay of about a week when these PCR results come in. In some places, just 4-5 days. This is a natural situation all over Sri Lanka when there are around 20,000 PCR samples to be tested. This is being carried out in the midst of practical difficulties while managing the situation.

Therefore, we kindly request you to act responsibly until you get the results of your PCR test. Your results can be either positive or negative.

Do not go to Anuradhapura after doing a PCR test in Colombo. Do not go to Matara. When the results come in, you are in Matara. Maybe your results are positive. Please remain in the area where the PCR-tested was conducted. Do not spread the virus elsewhere.

However, such situations have been reported throughout the country. This is a regrettable situation.”
