Rainfall of above 100 mm expected in some provinces

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in Northern, Eastern, and North-central provinces, according to the Department of Meteorology.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places elsewhere after 2.00 pm. Heavy showers about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, Southern, North-western, and Central provinces.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.

Misty conditions can be expected at some places in Central, Sabaragamuwa, Western and Uva provinces and in Galle and Matara districts during the morning.

SEA AREAS

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the Eastern and Northern sea areas.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at several places in the other sea areas around the island during evening or night.

 Winds will be North-easterly in the sea areas around the island. Winds speed will be (25-35) kmph.

Wind speed can increase up to (40-50) kmph in the sea areas extending from  Colombo to Trincomalee via Puttalam,  Mannar, and  Kankasanturai.

The sea areas off the coast extending from  Colombo to Trincomalee via Puttalam,  Mannar, and  Kankesanturai can be fairly rough at times. Other sea areas around the island will be slight to moderate. 

Temporarily strong gusty winds (up to 70-80 kmph) and very rough seas can be expected during thundershowers.
