Met. Department warns of severe lightning

The Department of Meteorology warns that thundershowers accompanied by severe lightning are likely to occur at several places in the Island. 

The districts of Gampaha, Colombo, Kalutara, Ratnapura, Galle, Matara, Hambatota, Mannar, Puttalam, Kurunegala, Matale, Kandy, Kegalle and Nuwara-Eliya have been named as high risk districts. 

There may be temporary localized strong winds during thundershowers. General public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by lightning activity.
