Parliamentary Council verifies President’s nominee as IGP

The Parliamentary Council has verified the nomination of Acting Inspector General of Police C. D. Wickramaratne to be appointed as the Inspector General of Police (IGP), sources told Ada Derana.

The nomination has been made by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa.

Wickramaratne has been serving as the Acting IGP since May 2019, after then-IGP Pujith Jayasundara was sent on Compulsory Leave over Easter Attacks.
