COPE to meet online for the first time

Committee on Public Enterprises (COPE) is scheduled to meet online tomorrow (26) for the first time.

Accordingly, the Environmental Audit Report on water pollution of Kelani River is scheduled to be discussed online tomorrow (26), according to COPE Chairman Prof. Charitha Herath.

Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Dr H.S. Munasinghe, Secretary to the Ministry of Industries W.A.  Chulananda Perera and Secretary to the  Ministry of Public Services, Provincial Councils and Local Government J.J. Ratnasiri are to be contacted online at this meeting.

In addition, officials from the Ministry of Irrigation, officials from the Ministry of Water Supply and Drainage, officials from the Board of Investment, officials from the Central Environmental Authority and the National Water Supply and Drainage Board are scheduled to attend tomorrow.

The purpose of using online technology is to minimize the number of attendees and to make the committee more efficient, as it operates in accordance with the COVID 19 Health Regulations and safety measures, the Communications Department of the Parliament stated.
