Education Minister on revision of O/L exam dates

November 26, 2020   05:56 pm

The decision whether there will be a revision of the G. C. E Ordinary Level examination dates will be decided within the upcoming days, says Minister of Education Prof. G. L. Peiris.

It was previously decided that the O/L examination will be held from the 18th to the 27th of January in 2021.

However, considering the COVID-19 situation in the country, it may change, according to the Minister.

Speaking at a media briefing today (26), the Minister of Education said that if the commencement of schools in the Western Province and other isolated areas of the country is further delayed, the dates will have to be reconsidered.

The decision will be made after about a week or 10 days, added Prof. Peiris.
Measures have been taken to determine the extent to which the relevant syllabi have been covered – at the classroom level or online – for the students appearing for the O/L exam this year.

Secretary for the Ministry of Education Prof. Kapila Perera said that a special program has been planned to obtain the necessary information through teachers.
