Over 400 Sri Lankan expats return from four countries

Another group of Sri Lankan expatriates who were stranded in foreign countries due to Covid-19 pandemic outbreak have returned to the island today (27).

Accordingly, 153 Sri Lankans from the United Arab Emirates (UAE), 50 from Doha, Qatar, 191 from Sydney, Australia and 12 from Japan were repatriated in special flights.

The returnees have been referred to PCR test upon their arrival at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) and were then moved to quarantine centres.

In the meantime, 382 Sri Lankans have left for foreign countries for employment – 275 to UAE, 53 to Qatar and 54 to the Maldives.
