The low-pressure area in the South-East Bay of Bengal is likely to intensify into a Depression during the next 36 hours and likely to intensify further, says the Department of Meteorology.

This likely to move nearly westwards to the North coast of Sri Lanka and it will affect the weather over the island and surrounding sea areas during next few days, the Department said.

Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva, Central, Western, and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 pm.

Fairly heavy falls about 50 mm are likely at some places.

Showers can be expected at a few places in the Eastern province.

The general public is kindly requested to take adequate precautions to minimize damages caused by temporary localized strong winds and lightning during thundershowers.
