More COVID-19 cases bring total to 20,448

Department of Government Information says that another 318 individuals have tested positive for novel coronavirus in the country.

All new cases are close contacts of previously identified positive patients from the Peliyagoda cluster. 

A total of 496 new cases of Covid-19 have been identified so far today (30).

This brings the total number of cases reported from the Minuwangoda-Peliyagoda Covid-19 cluster to 20,448.

As per Epidemiology Unit data, the total number of Covid-19 infections confirmed in the country to date now stands at 23,802.

Recoveries from the virus meanwhile climbed to 17,560 earlier today, as 558 more patients regained health.

However, 6,304 active cases are still under medical care at selected hospitals and treatment centers located across the island.

Sri Lanka has also witnessed 116 deaths related to Covid-19.
