Suresh de Mel appointed new EDB chairman

Veteran exporter Suresh de Mel has been appointed as the new chairman of Export Development Board (EBD).

De Mel, the current Managing Director of Fishing Flies (Pvt) Ltd, has worked as an agricultural environmental engineer for 10 years in the United States.

He is an alumnus of St. Thomas’ College in Mount Lavinia and holds a BSc degree in Agricultural Engineering from the California Polytechnic State University.

He was preceded in office by Prabhash Subasinghe who recently stepped down as the chairman of the EDB.
