The deep depression over Gulf of Mannar sea area has weakened into a depression and remained stationary about 145 km to the West of Mannar.

It is likely to weaken into a low-pressure area further, the Department of Meteorology said.

Wind speed will be (50-60) kmph and it can increase up to 70 kmph at times in the sea areas extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankesanturai. These sea areas can be very rough at times.

Naval and fishing communities have been advised not to venture into the deep and shallow sea areas off the coast extending from Puttalam to Mullaitivu via Mannar and Kankesanturai, until this evening.

Land areas:

Showers or thundershowers will occur at times in the Northern, North-western and Western provinces and in Anuradhapura and Trincomalee districts.

Heavy rainfalls about 100 mm can be expected at some places in Northern and North-western provinces and in Anuradhapura district.

Showers can be expected at several places in Sabaragamuwa and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.
