Coronavirus-infected man escapes NHRD

A Covid-19 infected man who was under medical care at the National Hospital for Respiratory Diseases (NHRD) in Welisara has escaped last evening (15).

A hospital spokesperson said the 43-year-old was admitted to the NHRD recently to receive treatment for tuberculosis.

However, a subsequent PCR test has confirmed that he was positive for novel coronavirus.

Police have launched a search operation to locate the escapee.
