Lankans in Qatar to celebrate Independence Day

The Sri Lankan Co-ordinating Committee (SLCC) Qatar will organise a cultural programme on Friday at Doha Cinema in connection with Sri Lanka’s 62nd Independence Day which falls tomorrow.

 


There will be two shows of ‘Nidahas Udanaya 2010’ - at 3pm and 7pm, SLCC president Lenny Cramer said. Sri Lankan Ambassador Vijayasiri Padukkage will be the chief guest.

 


Popular singers and TV actors Damitha Abeyratne, Umayangana Wickramasinghe, Himali Sayurangi, Mahendra Perera, Sanath Wimalasiri, Kumara Asela Jayakody and Giriraj Kaushalya will perform, Cramer said.

 


The Doha-based Sri Lankan band Ridma and students from the dance academy of Seraphs and Dinu Rangayathanaya will also participate.
