PNB arrests man in possession of 2.4 kg of ‘Ice’

A 27-year-old who was in possession of 2.4 kg of crystal methamphetamine – commonly known as ‘Ice’ has been taken into custody in the area of Hunupitiya in Wattala.

The arrest was made by the officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau (PNB) on Thursday (April 15), the Police Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana said.

On April 10, the PNB had taken a suspect into custody from Wattala area, along with 113 g of crystal methamphetamine and 101 g of heroin.

Interrogations into him have led to the arrest of the four males and two females who were in possession of 15 kg of crystal methamphetamine in Ja-Ela area.

Later, on April 12, the PNB seized a massive consignment of crystal methamphetamine weighing 110 kg and arrested five suspects from Rathgahawatte area in Sapugaskanda over the incident.

The PNB officers managed to apprehend the said 27-year-old based on the information obtained from the probes into previously arrested suspects.

Accordingly, 13 suspects linked to narcotics are currently in the custody of the police and nearly 128 kg of crystal methamphetamine have also been seized during these raids.
