Special Commodity Levy on imported potatoes increased

The Special Commodity Levy on imported potatoes is to be increased up to Rs. 50 per kilogram with effect from midnight today (26), the Government Information Department said.

Issuing a release, it said the government has decided to increase the Special Commodity Levy on imported potatoes due to the commencement of harvesting potato crops in the Nuwara-Eliya District and the expectation of a good harvest this time.
