All Buddhist Dhamma schools (Daham Pasal) will be closed until further notice due to the prevailing COVID-19 situation in the country, the Commissioner-General of Buddhist Affairs Sunanda Kariyapperuma announced.

The decision comes after the government’s move to postpone the reopening of all island-wide schools until the 7th of May.

Accordingly, Dhamma schools will be reopened on the first Sunday that follows the resumption of academic activities in schools, the Commissioner-General said further.

Meanwhile, the Bishop’s House announced that all countrywide Catholic schools will remain closed until the 7th of May.
