Sri Lanka’s daily COVID cases count leaps to 2,568

The Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry reports that 1,343 more persons have tested positive for COVID-19 in Sri Lanka on Tuesday (May 11), as the daily count of new cases moved to 2,568.

According to the Government Information Department, 2,530 of the new cases reported today are associated with the New Year coronavirus cluster. Meanwhile, the remaining 38 were identified as arrivals from foreign countries.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in the country to 131,098.

Up to 106,641 recoveries and 850 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak of the pandemic.

Official data showed that 23,607 active cases are currently under medical care.
