Disciplinary action to be taken against Madduma Bandara - UNP

Disciplinary action will be taken against UNP Moneragala District team leader Ranjith Madduma Bandara at the Working Committee meeting to be held on March 9, UNP General Secretary Tiss Attanayaka told Ada Derana.

He added that an internal investigation is underway regarding the alleged incident where the name of Tissa Kuttiarachchi was omitted from UNF Moneragala District nomination list.

Attanayaka explained that when he as the General Secretary of the party compiled the list Kuttiarachchi’s name was included. Once compiled, the list was given to the Moneragala District team leader Madduma Bandara to be handed over to the relevant District Secretariat, he said. However Attanayake said that subsequently a complaint was made by Kuttiarachchi claiming that his name was removed from the nomination list.

The party has in writing informed the Elections Commissioner regarding the matter. And during the Working Committee meeting if Madduma Bandara is found guilty appropriate disciplinary action will be taken, Attanayake said.
