Coronavirus cases registered on Friday cross 3,500

Daily COVID-19 cases count moved to 3,547 on Friday (May 21) as 656 more persons were tested positive for the virus in Sri Lanka.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in the country to 158,333.

Government Information Department stated that 3,538 of the new cases reported today are associated with the New Year coronavirus cluster. Nine others were identified as arrivals from foreign countries.

As many as 125,360 recoveries and 1,132 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak of the pandemic

According to official data, more than 31,000 active cases are currently under medical care.
