COVID: 2,859 new COVID cases confirmed within the day

Daily COVID-19 cases count moved to 2,859 on Sunday (May 30) as 673 more people were tested positive for the virus in Sri Lanka.

This brings the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus reported in the country to 183,452.

Government Information Department stated that 2,849 of the new cases reported today were associated with the New Year coronavirus cluster. Ten others were identified as arrivals from foreign countries who are under quarantine.

As many as 149,825 recoveries and 1,441 deaths have been confirmed in Sri Lanka since the outbreak of the pandemic last year.

According to official data, up to 32,186 active cases are currently under medical care at designated hospitals and treatment centres.
