Powerful Govt. and weak Opposition, Dr. Rajitha’s wish

A powerful government and a weak opposition after the upcoming general elections is the need of the country, said Construction and Engineering Services Cabinet Minister Dr. Rajitha Senaratne.

The accepted norm by the Third Worldcountries is that there should be a strong opposition to protect and safeguard democracy. But to move things forward and become a developed country we need a weak opposition and a strong government, added Dr. Senaratne.

“So the Opposition lead by Ranil Wickremesinghe is already weak. We hope he will be the Opposition leader after the April 8 general elections too and the government emerges stronger,” said Dr. Senaratne addressing the media at the Mahaweli Centre in Colombo.
