The Battle of Two Cities - with bat and ball

The annual ‘Battle of Two Cities’ – the seventh big match between St. Aloysius’ Galle and Rahula College, Matara begins today (March 12) at the Galle International Cricket Stadium.

 

Of the six matched played so far, St. Aloysius’ has won one and the rest have ended in a draw.

 

This time round St. Aloysius’ is being led by fourth year cricketer Naji Dewmith while Rahula is being led by G.M. Ekanayake.

 

Naji Dewmith has been in the 450 run range during the schools cricket competitions this year while bagging 20 wickets.

 

G.M. Ekanayake has maintained a score level of 200 runs with 15 wickets under his sleeve. This year’s battle is expected to be a keen tussle between the two colleges who will be looking for a win rather than a draw.
