Anoma’s petition seeking Fonseka’s release listed by Appeal Court

The petition filed by detained General (retired) Sarath Fonseka’s wife Anoma Fonseka, moving courts that he be produced in open courts has been listed by the Court of Appeal.

 

The Appeal Courthas directed the Registrar to decide on a suitable date or dates for the petition to be taken up in open court. The petition lists five persons including the Sri Lanka Army Commander as respondents.

 

The petition states that former Sri Lanka Army Commander and Chief of Defence Staff General (retired) Sarath Fonseka was taken into custody by the Military Police on February 8 without any charges being framed. It prays that court orders the Army Commander to produce Gen. Fonseka in open courts and also seeks his release from custody.
