The highest number of vaccines administered in Sri Lanka against the COVID-19 virus was reported on Saturday (July 25).

Accordingly, a total of 412,111 vaccine administrations have been reported yesterday.

State Minister of Production, Supply and Regulation of Pharmaceuticals Prof. Channa Jayasumana stated that the first dose administrations of the China-manufactured Sinopharm crossed the 300,000 mark.

Prof. Jayasumana says that Sri Lanka has received over 12,150,000 (twelve million one hundred fifty thousand) doses of COVID-19 vaccines so far.
He added that 72 percent of those vaccines have been purchased by the government.

Accordingly, 08 million doses of Sinopharm, 500,000 doses of AstraZeneca, 180,000 of Sputnik V, and 115,830 of Pfizer have been bought by the government.

Jayasumana says that the government has spent USD 77.3 million (Rs 15.46 billion) on these purchases and so far the government has not had an issue paying for the vaccines.

Meanwhile, 1.6 million more doses of the Sinopharm vaccines are to arrive in the country as a donation from China, the State Minister said.
