A tense situation has ensued near the entrance road to Parliament in Battaramulla due to a demonstration organized by the Inter University Students’ Federation (IUSF).

The protesters also set fire to a casket as the police blocked them at the parliament entry road.

The IUSF had organized the demonstration against the Kotelawala National Defence University Bill.

Earlier, traffic congestion was reported from Ayurveda Junction in Rajagiriya to Borella via Cotta Road as a result of the protest.
