Rs. 2,000 allowance for people who lost livelihoods due to quarantine curfew

The government has decided to provide an allowance of Rs. 2,000 for people whose livelihoods are affected by the ten-day quarantine curfew.

Accordingly, the Ministry of Finance has directed the District Secretaries to prepare a list of names of the beneficiaries.

The allowance is expected to be disbursed to the beneficiaries starting from next week.

An island-wide quarantine curfew was imposed from 10.00 pm yesterday (August 20) until August 30 (Monday) in a bid to curb the spread of COVID-19 and to ramp up the national inoculation drive.
