VIDEO: Majority UPFA complaints regarding attacks within the party – IGP

From the announcement of the General Election on February 10 to-date police have received a total of 219 election violence related complaints, IGP Mahinda Balasuriya said at a press conference today. Interestingly it was revealed that a majority of the UPFA complaints were regarding attacks among the same party candidates.

 

 

The IGP said that so far 174 suspects had been arrested and regarding 161 of then the courts had been notified. He added that most complaints were received from Batticaloa(24), Kandy(20), Matale(13) and Kanthale(12).

 

 

He also revealed that out of the 125 complaints filed by the UPFA, 73 were regarding attacks among the same party candidates.
