VIDEO: A hidden hand wants General’s health to deteriorate: Anoma Fonseka

Though the government claims that former Army chief General (retired) Sarath Fonseka’s health is satisfactory, his health, in fact, is deteriorating, said his wife Anoma Fonseka addressing a media briefing at their residence in Colombothis morning.

He is being still detained in an annex with poor ventilation and when they urge the authorities to provide him with air-condition facilities, the government only ridicules her husband as being the only prisoner who wants air-conditioned comforts, Mrs. Fonseka told the media.

If Gen. Fonseka’s health condition is good, why are the doctors who were providing him treatment earlier not allowed to examine him, asked Mrs. Fonseka.

There is a hidden hand that is trying to force her husband’s health to deteriorate. The Supreme Court has ordered that a relative could visit Gen. Fonseka at his place of detention inside the junior officers’ quarters within the Navy Headquarters complex. But when she was unable to visit him, another person instead of her is being denied a visit, Anoma Fonseka claims. “This shows that there is a hidden hand that is even attempting to over ride the decision of the highest court in the land,” added Mrs. Fonseka.

Mrs. Fonseka said that though they had appealed to international and local human rights organizations asking them to intervene in this matter, the government was not allowing them to do anything, charges Mrs. Fonseka.

Having injured by a suicide bomb blast, General Fonseka has been suffering from several health related complications. They have become worse after he was detained on baseless charges. Though many requests were made to the relevant authorities, the Generals medical team has been denied access to him. There is suspicion over this act by the government, charged Anoma Fonseka.
