All economic centres to remain open from tomorrow

All Dedicated Economic Centres will remain open from tomorrow (Sep. 11) despite the quarantine curfew, says Agriculture Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage.

The minister said that during the meeting of the Committee on Covid-19 Control held this morning (10) he requested the President to keep all economic centres open everyday from tomorrow, due to the difficulties faced by farmers with regard to selling their produce.

Accordingly, the committee granted approval to open all economic centres from tomorrow, he said, adding that this would allow farmers to sell all their produce.

Minister Aluthgamage requested the dedicated economic centres to properly manage these affairs while avoiding any congestion.

This decision came after the announcement on the extension of the island-wide quarantine curfew.

As decided by the Special Committee on COVID-19 Control earlier today, the ongoing quarantine curfew orders will stay in effect until Sep. 21 (Tuesday).
