Persons Registration Dept. to recommence services from next week

The main office of the Department of Registration of Persons in Battaramulla and other provincial offices will resume its services from October 04 (Monday).

However, the one-day service to issue National Identity Cards (NICs) will not resume as per usual, the 

The decision came as the government plans to lift the ongoing quarantine curfew on October 01 (Friday).

Application forms for NICs should be handed over to the Persons Registration Department’s regional office at the Divisional Secretariat, after getting them certified by the Grama Niladhari officer. Finalized identity cards of these applicants will be sent to them via registered post.

Further, a special arrangement has been made to issue NICs for those who require obtaining National Identity Cards promptly for emergency and essential purposes such as for examinations, interviews, to obtain passports and they can inform their urgent requirement to the Department through the under-mentioned telephone numbers.
