The Elections Department will not officially release the final results of the Nawalapitiya electorate, the Kandy district and the island-wide results for the 2010 general elections, till the re-poll at the few polling divisions in Nawalapitiya, Department sources told Adaderana a short while ago.

The Elections Commissioner earlier had decided to annul the polling at several centres at Nawalapitiya in the Kandy district citing complaints of elections malpractices.

There were several accusations of elections malpractices in the Nawalapitiya electorate during polling yesterday. Several political parties had also complained to the Elections Commissioner about these alleged abuses.
