Dozens taken into custody over illegal migration attempt

Thwarting an attempt to illegally migrate to a foreign country via sea routes, Sri Lanka Police has taken a group of 65 individuals into custody who were staying at a hotel in the area of Trincomalee.

Among them are 63 males, one female, and a 4-year-old child, the police spokesman said.

The raid was carried out based on a tip-off received by the National Intelligence Service.
