Man shot dead in Kotikawatta

A man has been killed in a shooting incident which took place in the area of Kotikawatta in Mulleriyawa police area between 6.30 a.m. and 7.00 a.m. this morning (October 26).

The deceased was identified as a 42-year-old, the police said.

Another individual, 45, who sustained injuries in the accident, was meanwhile admitted to the Colombo National Hospital.

Preliminary investigations revealed that a dispute over narcotics had led to the shooting.

Senior DIG in charge of Western Province Deshabandu Tennakoon stated that four police teams were deployed to probe the incident further.
