April 22, 2010   11:20 am

As a person who was arrested under false charges, I make this inaugural address with grief, DNA leader and MP Rtd. Gen. Sarath Fonseka said when Party Leaders gave well wishes to the newly elected speaker of the house Chamal Rajapaksa.

He also requested the Speaker to ensure that the MPs benefits and rights are ensured. It is the responsibility of the Parliament to facilitate its citizens to live peacefully, and guarantee that the law applies to everyone equally, Fonseka said.

According to Fonseka the DNA is prepared to support the good initiatives of the Government and also pledged support to the Speaker to carry out his duties.

In conclusion he also thanked the Government and Opposition MPs for the opportunity to speak.
