First salvo at Education Minister Bandula?

A teachers’ association has urged the secretary of the Ministry of Education to immediately withdraw the advisory circulars on teacher promotions that have been sent to Provincial education authorities.

Writing to the Ministry secretary the Association of Educational Professionals (AEP) secretary Wasantha Dharmasiri states that the said circulars, ED/2/29/10/20/29 and another dated 2010/04/01 should be withdrawn immediately as it creates more confusion to the already granted promotions and salary revisions in an attempt to sort out problems arising since 1994, which in itself had been unsatisfactory.

Mr. Dharmasiri states that the granting of salaries too has been thrown into confusion again by these circulars.

If there are no attempts by the Ministry to withdraw these circulars, the AEP would be compelled to resort to trade union action, the letter has warned.
